Career Profile @ TheYouFinder

I am not one to brag... (or maybe I am but I still don't have enough to brag about?)... but sometimes, when pictures this good are taken, you gotta make a big deal about it! Lovely Katalina Mayorga from TheYouFinder, who I recently met at a Capfabb event, took the time out of her busy schedule to interview me and have the talented Sebastin Marin take some great pictures of me in Dupont Circle. The theme is mostly focused on my professional background and my style so for those of you interested in learning what I do from 9 to 5, I definitely invite you to check it out. And for those of you who don't care, well I hope these images serve as some inspiration ... More pics here

Spreading the love!!

Do not alert the authorities... I am back! I apologize for my extended hiatus but my trip to Panama required my complete attention and left little time for me to delight you with my presence. However, I come to you with good news... First and foremost, I want to thank Ellie from Fashion with Ellie and Damycool from De Todo y de Nada for awarding me with the Kreativ and the Stylish Blogger Award respectively. I wish I had time to award 22 bloggers but my time is limited as I need to recover from the 5-hour-sleeps I was "forced" to endure last week. But I promise that next time I will be as generous as possible.  Anyway, here are the rules for my combined awards:

1. Thank the person who awarded you
2. Share 7 things about yourself
3. Award discovered bloggers

7 things about myself:
  1. My favorite part of the day is Breakfast
  2. I am scared of planes, ghosts and bugs
  3. When I can't fall asleep I watch Hanna Montana
  4. For many years I wanted to be Britney Spears
  5. I am completely convinced that if there was a reality show of my town, I would have been the LC version of it
  6. Sometimes, especially at bars, I introduce myself as Camila
  7. My mom's name is Smella
I hope the last one puts a smile on your face. I think the reaction of people upon uttering the word is my favorite part of any conversation with a new acquaintance. I still wonder how she managed to survive with it but I am thinking that despite the plethora of nicknames she could have gotten while growing up, the name does lend itself for some good blog titles eh?? Something with a culinary topic???

Bloggers nominated are:
  1. Yolanda from Pink and Leopard Prints
  2. Bright and Sassy
  3. El Armario de Mase
  4. Green Tea and Cupcakes
  5. I am trying to be famous
  6. Melody Louise
  7. Miss Annie

A bright new year

New Year's Eve came and went and left us with the annoying task of getting used to finishing every date entry with '12 instead of '11. I for my part had to re-do a whole list of documents I was recording for today's date. A task that would have taken me 30 minutes, took me 45, and I spent those extra 15 minutes really wondering if I had actually just come back from a NYE celebration in beautiful New York.
Now, besides incorrect date entries, a new year brings with it the hope of a brighter future and the task of setting yourself a resolution to focus on achieving in the next 365 days. Despite the fact that I am not a quitter, I am a master at setting resolutions I never intend on accomplishing but 2012 has a better ring to it-- possibly because some Mayans predicted it to be the end of the world-- and despite my failed efforts throughout the last 5 years, I am resolved to accomplish 4 of the following 5 New Years resolutions:

#1 Limit my intake of canned and microwavable meals to 1 per week
#2 Get over my fear of flying
#3 Get over my fear of flying and go to Europe
#4 Buy a super chic peplum
#5 Buy a pair of black cropped jeans and wear them with a super chic peplum

I still wonder which of these 5 I am planning to ditch but by the looks of these last three days, #1 seems to be harder than I thought. I do have one more resolution that I plan to keep a secret. But if It comes true, you'll be the first to know!
Care to share your resolutions?

Back Home and Giveaway WINNER!

I know I promised the winner of the Tara Chial Necklace giveaway to be announced yesterday but if you had been flying for 8 hours and in traffic for another 2, you would have probably delay the announcement as well.  I can give you more valid excuses but I think these should suffice.
So... the winner... of my first giveaway... is........ Samantha Elizabeth from Glitter&Lace.  If you haven't heard of her blog, I suggest you stop by. Definitely one worth spending some time in and reading everything she has to say. Thanks everyone for participating and I am looking forward to giving away some more great stuff so stay tuned!

On another note, remember when I had a theory tropical weather loved me. Well, again, I have been proven right. I'd heard Panama was becoming close to hurricane territory so I was weary about the situation. However,  today was a gorgeous day. Other than the occasional one minute rain drops during the afternoon, it was a perfect day. This was my view in the morning (I did went tanning for 30 mins but many errands were calling and I had to stop). Notice the huge GAP sign at the back... yup, we are that modern!!

I am terribly sorry I have been out of the loop but you know how this season gets with all  the Christmas shopping overdue and the traffic from last-minute shoppers who are desperate to get to the last Michael Kors bag in the store. Heading out for some bday celebrations tonight... will share the outfit tomorrow!

xoxo

9 Days 'Till Christmas Giveaway!!

Trying to go against the current, I have opted for a 9 day countdown instead of the typical 10 day countdowns most people care to do. I guess for me it is a jollier time the day after the 10 days, cause that just means we are a day closer. So in the spirit of Christmas close by, I've teamed up with one of my dearest friends to offer my lovely (and loyal) readers a piece of her jewelery collection. In case you missed yesterday's announcement, this piece is designed by Tara Chial, a Panamanian native, Asian looking, NYC based jewelry designer who I (the power at be of this blog) have decide will be the next Vera Wang of accesories. Her inspiration comes from her Asian and Latin American roots, especially from the art and jewelry craftmanship hailing from Panama and Peru (woot-woot!). It's safe to say this piece is  tribal-inspired/fierce-looking and will go well with any fierce outfit you have in mind. Whether you are the type that likes to keep it simple or go all out, this piece can be the statement necklace that will make the outfit stand out. Here's my take on it for inspiration purposes:

To Participate, follow these 3 easy steps:
  1. 'Like' Tara Chial Jewelry page on Facebook (required) here
  2. Follow me on Bloglovin / Twitter
  3. Leave a comment below letting me know what you've done (the more of these you complete, the more entries you will have and the greater your chances). Write your email/best way to contact you.
**** Giveaway will end on the 20th (right on time for my Birthday!!) and winner will be picked at random and announced on the 21st. GOOD LUCK!!!!

A Classy Ensemble

I was feeling like dressing classy today and I am sure my co-workers can tell you that doesn't usually happen every day.  Since I recently got this vintage-looking skirt at H&M I thought it was time I looked executive-like, just in case the Ambassador walks in to see what we have been up to downstairs. What do ya think, could I get into Congress with this??
