Work Wear

Every once in a while, I wake up feeling like I actually work at an office that requires a business-like attire. This especially occurs after I realize  that pairing my Indian bib necklace with a collared blouse can lead to amazing results. Let's just say, I made my boss pretty happy that day.

Smart Shopper

A lady-like dress  begs to be paired with some men-looking accesories and that's exactly how I paid tribute to this $15 dress from Urban Outfitters. When it comes to bargains, I am not always the brightest crayon in the box. My dad actually suggested I should make this blog about affordable shopping for struggling fashionistas. Now, if you knew my dad, you would understand he is not one to dabble around this world. His mentality is very straight forward: one should own the necessary items to dress appropriately (one pair of black shoes, one pair of brown shoes, a couple of pants, a good pair of jeans and some running shoes). Thankfully this person here, and my mom, invade his closet every once in a while, or take advantage during important celebrations to increase his wardrobe. Ask him something about computers, and that is a whole different story. But anyway, considering who my dad is, his advice was pretty touching which made it even more harder to express to him how his daughter was not in the "smart shopper" category... I am one of those that buys an item at full price the day before it goes to half-off. So, when I walk into Urban Outfitters to return and item and see an "additional 50% off on all sale items sign at the door," I decided it was time I tested the waters. And this dress, this beautiful, floral print dress, was one of the results and let me tell you... one my proudest moments (or at least one of my top 10).

Pijamas and a Knit

When the pajama pant trend kicked in, I quickly fell for the trend and got two pairs of silk pants from Zara. It was extremely hard for me to find the right way to wear them at first, for every time I would put it on and stare down at my bottoms, I couldn't help but feel that I was ready to go to bed. Just add some hugh-heffner-like slippers and I am down for a stylish pajama party. I've gotten mixed reviews on the subject and a few dirty looks on the way (you know... wearing what seems like a bed-like attire and all) but personally, they are my fave and I wear them with as much confidence as possible (and a lot of make up or else people will surely think I just got out of bed). I recently spotted some similar to these with a knit so when I got this lovely sweater at BCBG yesterday, my first thought was to pair it with these pants. I know I am risking ruining the look with a chunky oversize sweater but the collar detail definitely adds the extra element to scale down the silk pant look without making it look too casual. Not to mention the huge heels and python print clutch aid the situation. Hope you enjoy as much as I do :)
